What's new in Anchor

Plain language, no version-number soup. Every change here came from using Anchor for real — or from someone writing in to say what wasn't working.

1.0 Latest July 2026

The first public release.

  • Site blocking — over 700 adult sites out of the box, plus proxies and bypass tools, and anything you add yourself.
  • Image filtering that runs on your device — explicit and suggestive pictures are blurred before you see them, and no image is ever uploaded anywhere.
  • The commitment lock — pick a period, and your protection can't be switched off until it ends. Optionally, a one-time unlock code goes to a friend instead of to you.
  • Safe search, forced — Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo stay in strict mode and YouTube in Restricted Mode, signed in or not. Explicit searches are stopped at the query itself.
  • A reset toolkit for the hard moment — guided breathing, grounding, a 90-second urge-surfing timer and muscle relaxation, each with a short note on why it helps.
  • Your own words on every blocked page — write a note to your future self once, and it's the first thing you see when a page is blocked.
  • Progress you can actually see — streaks, urges ridden out and time reclaimed, all counted and kept on your own device.

Updates arrive automatically. Your browser installs new versions of Anchor in the background — nothing to download, and your settings, notes and commitments carry over untouched. Something you'd like to see here? Tell me about it.
